The best chocolate cupcakes ever... and some rain boots that aren't Hunter

Aigle boots have two things going for them: they are hand crafted in France, and they're not Hunter boots. Nothing against Hunter, I like how they look, but they're made in China and I just don't get that sense of value from them. I'm not against popular brands, but when a brand becomes popular seemingly just out of pure hype and not any real reason, I'm pretty skeptical.

Anyway Aigle's classic rain boot runs at only $110 on Zappos, which is really good value for the quality of product you're getting (did I mention they're made in France?!)
Watch the video for a more in-depth look at what they do:

And on a completely unrelated note, these are the best chocolate cupcakes ever, if you happen to be eating gluten free/sugar-free/low carb/paleo... etc. They are actually so moist and cupcak-ey.

One last thing I have to ask--is anyone else getting excited for Christmas already?! I'm definitely in the category of people that can't WAIT to get the tree up (honestly, I can barely wait until Halloween is over!)

But what's more exciting about Christmas this year is some really fun things that are in the works for Les Conservateurs. So stay tuned! It's gonna be really big...

Happy weekend everyone! Hope you're enjoying this fog like we are. I absolutely love it.

Here are a few fun things to check out this morning as you sip your coffee:

Just in case you thought your place was small...a 25 square meter apartment (about 270 sq. ft.)
photos of a 25 square meter home
A 25 square meter home via. Design of Form
Some small space tips from Apartment Therapy

And if you're stuck on what to wear in this transition from fall to winter...

Try layering a warm long sleeved tee or turtleneck under a structured blazer and a big scarf for extra warmth.

Also, cashmere is coming back at Everlane in five days...

Attention Aspiring Coffee Geeks!

This post is for those of you who, like us, are aspiring to maybe, possibly, one day become a true coffee geek (and really, can one ever actually achieve such status? Other than actually being "the" coffee geek Mark).

There are lots of places to buy coffee gear, including most of the third wave coffee shops in Vancouver, and Espressotec in Richmond. But a fun surprise for me was to find a bunch of legitimately "nerdy" coffee gear at Crate & Barrel, of all places.

So, while I wouldn't buy an espresso machine from them, they do carry a great selection of fun drip coffee accessories, including Hario and Chemex products.

Hario Drip Scale, Timer and Hario Kettle
Hario scale/timer and Buono Power Kettle

Chemex for pourover coffee and Blue Bottle Craft of Coffee

Pourover and single cup brew methods

Coloured Ceramic Mugs at Crate & Barrel

Also if you're addicted to buying mugs (like me), there's a wonderful selection of colourful ceramics that please the eye.

NEW BLOG!

So we decided to start an actual blog. We've been on Tumblr for awhile, but with the launch of our new website, we decided we really wanted to share with you a little bit more detail, (and a lot more photos!) of what we're up to, things we're excited about, and of course, tons of fashion stuff! So we'll keep it brief, but for starters, here are a few photos of our last trip to one of the best bakeries in town, Beaucoup. Stay tuned for regular updates about the latest in food, coffee and fashion in Vancouver!
